Tiepolo dealt with the restoration and preservation of the manuscripts. These were housed in the cupboards on the balcony side of the hall, where some had got wet. Most of the manuscripts needed rebinding and others, which had effectively dissolved, had to be bound entirely from scratch. These tasks were given to Zanetti. The manuscripts were all sewn, bound in leather with Saint Mark’s lion printed on the back cover: an elegant work of craftsmanship, which was to produce long-lasting results.
